Some things are not designed.
They simply come from somewhere.
Set across rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves, Tenuta Castelnuovo Tancredi offers a rare kind of privacy: a fully private estate next to Val d’Orcia, close to Siena and Montalcino.
The Castle, Villa Aiale and Borgo Castelrotto sit within the same estate, near Siena and Montalcino.

Our story
The history of this place begins around the year 1000, when a defensive tower was built on these hills — later used as a granary and garrison. By 1315, the surrounding land already showed cultivated olives and vines. In the early 1700s, the estate supported 40 hectares of vineyards, thousands of olive trees, a nursery, an oil press, and several cellars.
Known through the centuries under the names of the families who held it — Guglieschi, Borghesi, Tancredi — the estate has been in the hands of the Venturini Del Greco family since 1897. It is managed today by the fifth generation, in a continuity that looks forward without losing its roots.
Vineyards & organic farming
In the late 1990s, Guido Venturini Del Greco made a deliberate choice: reduce the vineyard surface and focus entirely on quality. The vines were planted with Sangiovese, Trebbiano and Malvasia — native to this valley — alongside Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The grapes are vinified in the historic cellar, producing DOC Orcia and IGT Toscana wines. The same approach guides the fields: ancient grains — Senatore Cappelli, Verna, emmer — cultivated and milled locally, within the estate’s own supply chain.
